With a special interest in unraveling the workings of the universe and its grand mysteries, Xehan incorporates information drawn from scientific, mythological, historical, and symbolic findings, translating them into the superposition of realities and beings observing from hidden dimensions.
Roberto Vázquez Hernández, known as "Xehan," (b. 1991, Guadalajara, Mexico). Xehan has pursued his artistic endeavors primarily in easel painting, as well as ceramic sculpture, printmaking, and murals. Exploring themes of perception, mysticism, and metaphysics through the creation of distorted landscapes, abstractions, and characters rich in textures ranging from organic to geometric, stylistically shifting from psychedelia to magical realism, interwoven in atmospheres crafted with long, loose brushstrokes, veils, impastos, and meticulous dotwork. Axial symmetry is a constant element in the artist's pictorial and sculptural compositions, as well as the integration of biomorphism inspired by plants and animals. Influenced by a penchant for nature walks, Xehan paints en plein air and takes photographs that serve as inspiration for some elements, while others originate directly from the artist's imagination.
