Puerto Vallarta, Mexico — IF6WAS9 Contemporary Art Space is proud to announce its inaugural exhibition, marking the opening of a new destination for contemporary art in Puerto Vallarta. The event will feature paintings by Jorge De la Cruz and an immersive sound and visual installation by Oscar Frey, whose work centers on the Humpback Whales of Bahía de Banderas.

 

Through this exhibition, IF6WAS9 establishes itself as a sophisticated, immersive cultural hub dedicated to authentic, cutting-edge work by artists who are shaping the direction of Mexico’s contemporary art movement.

 

Jorge De la Cruz, based in Guadalajara, is known for his expressive and monumental compositions that explore the tension between realism and abstraction. His large-scale works reveal a heightened focus on the human form and emotional resonance through layered painterly gesture and luminous color.

 

Oscar Frey, a marine biologist and sound artist working in Bahía de Banderas, presents an installation that merges marine science, field recordings, and visual art to evoke the presence and migration of Humpback Whales. His work offers an intimate sensory experience of the living pulse of the sea, connecting scientific observation with poetic reflection.

 

The opening reception will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 6:30 to 10:30 PM, at IF6WAS9 Contemporary Art Space’s new location in Pitillal Centro, Puerto Vallarta. The evening will welcome collectors, visitors, and members of the community to celebrate this new space devoted to Mexico’s vibrant creative dialogue.

Puerto Vallarta, México — IF6WAS9 Contemporary Art Space anuncia su exposición inaugural, que marca la apertura de un nuevo destino para el arte contemporáneo en Puerto Vallarta. El evento presentará pinturas de Jorge De la Cruz y una instalación sonora y visual inmersiva de Oscar Frey, inspirada en las ballenas jorobadas de la Bahía de Banderas.

 

Con esta exposición, IF6WAS9 se consolida como un espacio cultural sofisticado e inmersivo, dedicado a la obra auténtica y vanguardista de artistas que están definiendo el rumbo del arte contemporáneo en México.

 

Jorge De la Cruz, radicado en Guadalajara, es reconocido por sus composiciones expresivas y monumentales que exploran la tensión entre el realismo y la abstracción. Sus obras a gran escala revelan un enfoque más profundo en la figura humana y la resonancia emocional a través del gesto pictórico y el color luminoso.

 

Oscar Frey, biólogo marino y artista sonoro que trabaja en la Bahía de Banderas, presenta una instalación que fusiona la ciencia marina, las grabaciones de campo y el arte visual para evocar la presencia y migración de las ballenas jorobadas. Su obra ofrece una experiencia sensorial íntima del pulso vivo del mar, uniendo la observación científica con la reflexión poética.

 

La recepción de apertura se llevará a cabo el sábado 29 de noviembre de 2025, de 6:30 a 10:30 PM, en el nuevo espacio de IF6WAS9 Contemporary Art Space en Pitillal Centro, Puerto Vallarta. La velada dará la bienvenida a coleccionistas, visitantes y miembros de la comunidad para celebrar este nuevo punto de encuentro dedicado al arte contemporáneo mexicano.
